R.I.P. for 50
The 50th Anniversary of DOCTOR WHO bestowed many joyous, interesting and humourous (to say the least, :) ).
There was the 50th Special, "The Day of the Doctor", with Tom Baker's surprise appearance which nobody saw coming, all thirteen Doctors working together to save Gallifrey, and of course the truth of the Tenth Doctor's revelations with Elizabeth I.
The mini episode, "The Night of the Doctor" saw Paul McGann's return to the DOCTOR WHO small screen. Reuniting him with the Sisterhood of Karn, writer Steven Moffat well-used his opportunity to create the link between McGann's Eighth Doctor and the role of John Hurt, revealed in "The Day of

It was on this day, 50 years ago on Saturday November 23 1963, that the very first episode of the BBC's newewst Science-Fiction drama was broadcast. Entitled "An Unearthly Child", the episode was transmitted on BBC1 at 5:15pm. Although the launch was successful, this episode was seen by a mere 4 million viewers, overshadowed by the assassination of American president John F. Kennedy the day before.
And today, the series is a universal phenomenon.
